J. Rotbart & Co. is a family-owned firm, dedicated to physical precious metals.

This case study is about increasing visibility across search engines. A a boutique firm with a specialized focus on tangible assets, such as gold, silver, platinum, or palladium. They provide a bespoke service for the purchase of precious metals, and the preservation of wealth.

They came to Goldfish struggling with a lack of ranking, visibility and creating an all round brand entity. The client had an overall 3% visibility across search engines. And were not found in the maps for either Singapore or Hong Kong.

The brief was to increase rankings, traffic and brand entity across Hong Kong and Singapore. 

Issues To Solve

On assessment of the site and backlinking profile, we found that the client’s previous “SEO” had created an unholy mess of ‘bad’ backlinks. The client had amassed just over 1.2 million backlinks, with the vast majority being poor quality.

The client has an abundance of good quality content. However, none of it had ever gone through any SEO, and had just been left to its own devices. We put together an internal link strategy of Siloing and Reverse Siloing to strengthen Page Authority and Domain Authority.

Once the previous poor quality linking was finally removed. We could get down to putting together a strategy of strong Off-site backlinking. We started by local SEO using Singapore and Hong Kong citations and directories, to boost visibility within Google My Business. Then a high-quality PR campaign and finding previous online articles about the company and getting it refreshed and a link added.

As you can see from the stats above the website now ranks #1 for 406 keywords. And ranking for 656 keywords in total, giving it a visibility of 89.8% across search engines. This is up from 3% when we first started

The website now competes against the biggest competitors within the toughest of Asian markets.

The client has trebled the traffic of the website and increased page visits by 200%.

They show as #1 for google maps in both Hong Kong and Singapore for Buy Gold, Gold and Gold Dealer.
